Prizes and Honours
The Louis Lockshin Prize for Short Fiction (a Canadian Jewish Book Award), 1999.
Shortlisted for the Danuta Gleed Award, a prize for the best first short story collection anywhere in Canada (1999).
"Marrow," the title story, was awarded a cash and book prize at the Eden Mills Writing Contest (1994).
Part of "The Prayer" was set to music by Benjamin Britten and read as part of the Yom Kippur service (Temple Emmanuel, Rabbi Bielfeld, 1999).
Nora Gold has also given numerous public readings of her work and has
led creative writing workshops for grade 6 students at USDS school in
Toronto. In 1998 she presented on a panel with poet Anne Carson, as
well as Lucinda Vardey and Julia Ching, on "Women Writing Spirituality,"
sponsored by The Creative Writing Programme at York University, and
in 2001 she presented a paper at a conference in Hamilton, Ontario on
"Being a Jewish Writer."
