Dr. Nora Gold is the prize-winning author of three books. Her novel The Dead Man (2016) was praised internationally, received a Translation Grant from Canada Council for the Arts, and will be published in Hebrew in Israel in July 2019. Fields of Exile (2014), the first novel about anti-Israelism on campus, won the 2015 Canadian Jewish Literary Award. Marrow and Other Stories won a 1999 Canadian Jewish Book Award and praise from Alice Munro.

In addition, Gold is the founder and editor of the prestigious online literary journal Jewish Fiction .net, which has published 360 works of fiction from around the world (originally written in 15 languages), and which has readers in over 140 countries.

Since 2000 Dr. Gold, previously a tenured professor of social work, has been affiliated (first as an Associate Scholar and then for six years as its Writer-in-Residence) with OISE/University of Toronto’s Centre for Women’s Studies in Education. This centre closed in 2018, but Gold continues to coordinate the highly regarded reading series that she established there, the Wonderful Women Writers Series, now housed at the Toronto Public Library (Deer Park Branch).

  • August 19, 2019 – Radio interview about האיש המת on Israeli national radio (כאן – the Israel Public Broadcasting Corporation). Gold was interviewed on the literary program מה שכרוך עם יובל אביבי ומיה סלע. (Her segment runs from 21:07-34:33; the interview is in Hebrew.)
  • August 15, 2019 – Article about האיש המת in the Jerusalem Post (see the 3rd section of this article).
  • August 14, 2019 – Canadian Embassy event in Tel Aviv: A private reception for האיש המת where Gold was interviewed by Prof. Shuli Barzilai.
